Stockmans Cottage

Step into the natural elegance of rural life at the historic Mooramong Estate, just 50 minutes west of Ballarat. Nestled amidst sprawling golden plains, Stockmans Cottage seamlessly blends classic charm with contemporary comforts, providing a unique retreat experience.

Charming, cosy and rustic, this 1910s Cottage can accommodate up to six people with three bedrooms, two queen-sized and one with two king singles, a fully equipped country style kitchen, modern bathroom with separate ensuite, and laundry. The generous living room includes an original fireplace to curl up and enjoy a good book or playing boardgames.

Embrace the slow pace of rural living and wake up to the peaceful sounds of the countryside. Here, the tranquility of nature surrounds you, offering a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wander along picturesque nature trails, discover the diverse birdlife from a secluded bird hide or temporarily leave the property to explore the nearby Skipton-Ballarat Rail Trail.

As night falls, gather around the firepit to toast marshmallows, savour local wines, and gaze at a sky filled with stars. During the summer months, enjoy a refreshing swim in Homestead’s large pool (available during Summer months), nestled within a walled garden, or play a game of tennis on the heritage court, channeling the Hollywood lifestyle of Mooramong’s eccentric former owners.

Located near the charming township of Skipton and offering easy access to the Western Highway, Mooramong Estate serves as your gateway to the Pyrenees Wine Region and the Grampians.

The cottage remains on a working farm, so prepare to fully immerse yourself in country life as you might see farmers, a tractor, or animals in the nearby paddocks.

The Cottages are all situated on private property and are very safe and secure. However, you are surrounded by wildlife, so please always be aware of your surroundings. Each cottage has a first aid kit and snake bite kit in case of emergencies. When outside the cottages, enclosed footwear should be worn.

If you plan to swim in the Homestead’s pool, be aware the pool is very deep and best enjoyed by strong swimmers or with the assistance of flotation devices. Otherwise, simply sit back and relax with a drink by the poolside!

Parents must supervise children at all times.

We recognise the risk of bushfire around our accommodation and we have a plan in place to enhance the safety of our guests and staff.
